Biker, Skateboarder, and… Trainer-Volunteer for the “Tvoy Kurs” Project.
Untitled Photo Ilya Malyshkin is studying at Tambov School No.36, with which the “Tvoy Kurs” project works closely. The school’s principal, Galina Ambarian, a project volunteer trainer, informed students about the training available for young volunteers at the Center. Five upperclassmen, including Ilya, decided to enroll in the Training of Trainers practicum, their occupational training, coursework, and extra-curricular activities notwithstanding.

Elena Karpova: “I Speak through the Internet!”
Untitled Photo “Love of life is stronger than silence” is an appropriate description of Elena Karpova from Krasnoufimsk. Looking at this vigorous and cheerful lady it’s hard to believe that she has been deaf and dumb from birth. She first started using the computer at forty, compelled by work requirements, but then it grew into a passion. After completing the Digital Literacy at her local Tvoy Kurs Center, Elena has continued her ICT education, mastering new applications and confidently navigating the Internet, which, among other things, has enabled her to finally find her own voice.

Untitled Photo At the end of April, the Afanas’ievykhs from Novokuznetsk successfully completed the Tvoy Kur training for people with impaired physical abilities.The training center has become their home and the spouses visit it regularly: occasionally an interesting seminar is held, once in a while a consultation with specialists. Center employees notice how both Lyubov’ Dmitrievna and Aleksandr Artem’ievich don’t rest on the laurels of earlier successes, but actively continue to explore the IT world, master interesting computer programs, and improving their intellectual and physical knowledge with the help of a PC.

As a result, she not only acquired all the basic ICT skills she needed for work, but also developed and launched her own website featuring instructional materials, presentations, videos and notes for parents that she had collected over the years.

However sometimes traditional gender expectations still lead to low self-esteem in women and impede their professional success. This is the main conclusion Irina R., a Tvoy Kurs alumna from Tambov, came to after she completed her Tvoy Kurs and IT for Business training and, overcoming her uncertainty, doubts and fears, finally came into her own and started her own bakery and confectionary shop.

Kseniya Petrunina taking her first online journey Thanks to European Get Online Week, eighty-two-year-old folk singer Kseniya Petrunina from the Cossack village of Tepikinskaya has been able to find traditional wedding songs, lullabies and other Cossack folklore songs, enriching her own large repertoire. She will now perform new lullabies for young mothers, beautiful Cossack marching songs for draftees, and, hopefully, wedding songs for her yet unmarried grandchildren. Kseniya Petrunina is a firm believer in keeping and strengthening old Cossack traditions.

Realizing that life in the modern hi-tech society requires good computer skills, they decided to upgrade their own digital literacy level. As the result they got integrated into the modern information culture and discovered new financial and social opportunities.

Life Has Become Much More Interesting!

The knowledge and skills she acquired during the digital literacy training at the local Tvoy Kurs Center changed her life by giving her a whole new perspective on the future. Despite her advanced age, she bought a laptop computer, began practicing her new digital skills, and soon went into business.
