Touring the World with Tvoy Kurs
Before retirement Valentina Nevolenko’s entire working life consisted of teaching foreign languages and traveling. She has taught German at her rural school for more than twenty-five years. With years and retirement traveling has become more difficult, but Valentina still feels the need to keep her intercultural awareness fresh and up-to-date, so that her students can truly appreciate the culture of the peoples and countries whose language they study. With time old photos and stories have lost their former luster, but taking a trip abroad is something a rural teacher like Valentina can rarely afford.

Things began to change when Valentina learned that computers make it possible to take virtual trips around the world, right there in her classroom. The Internet promised many fascinating opportunities, but Valentina’s problem was that she didn’t have any computer skills. She found commercial computer courses too long and too expensive, their demands and requirements often too demanding. So it was a welcome relief when she heard about the Tvoy Kurs Center and signed up for the training.

Tvoy Kurs pleasantly surprised Valentina with its personal attention to every learner. A wide choice of study materials and an opportunity to select the most convenient mode of learning helped her to complete the Digital Literacy Curriculum in a very short time. She learned a lot about the Internet and started making PowerPoint presentations as a way to take her students around the world.

Soon Valentina Nevolenko purchased her own computer and started practicing her newly acquired skills at home. The Digital Literacy Curriculum taught her to work with MS Office applications, edit photos and scan images, download things from the Internet, and upload her own materials online. Her classes became even more interesting and informative. Now that she can use the Internet to travel around the world, Valentina gladly takes her students along on these new and exciting journeys. In addition to making her classes more engaging and appealing, the computer has also helped her to expand her circle of interaction, as the alumna began exchanging frequent messages with her friends from other countries.

Valentina Nevolenko is very grateful to Tvoy Kurs, because it has not only given her an entirely fresh and new beginning, but also enabled her to confirm her professional qualifications. Besides, according to the latest news, she is finally going to visit her friends in Germany during the winter school break.
