Tvoy Kurs and a Successful Career: from a Packer to a Commercial Director

Ludmila Kaverina, a twenty-seven-year-old resident of Tambov and a vocational school graduate, was too apprehensive about computers and continued working at a low-paid job until personal difficulties compelled her to seek an entirely new career. Her first step towards a new life was to sign up for a Tvoy Kurs: Digital Literacy course.

Ludmila Kaverina works in a wholesale warehouse. Only eighteen months ago she was afraid to even approach a computer and so had to continue working as a packer, despite her vocational school diploma. The birth of a baby, followed by a painful divorce and financial difficulties, compelled her to radical changes and a firm decision to start building a successful career.

Ludmila had already heard about the Tvoy Kurs Center from a friend who had taken a course in computer marketing there. In the early 2010, overcoming her initial apprehension, Ludmila signed up for a Digital Literacy course and soon learned to use MS Office applications, got the hang of various Internet services, and began attending supplementary sessions and seminars, all the while practicing the new skills at home. The entire training took her about two months.

After completing her Tvoy Kurs training, Ludmila submitted to her supervisors an independent project, suggesting a number of improvements for the warehouse, including renovating its computer park and software, organizing a promotional campaign, and optimizing interaction with clients. As her innovations were implemented, the warehouse increased both its profits and work efficiency, and Ludmila received her first promotion. By April 2011 she was promoted to the position of the company’s commercial director. Among other things, she has organized a new department for working with clients and documentation, creating three new jobs. This the alumna’s initiative has helped three more Tambov residents find permanent employment and make their lives more successful.
