| YCDL Training for Underserved Populations of Volgograd | On 10 June 2010, the YCDL Center of Volgograd State Agricultural Academy launched a new YCDL course for a group of senior citizens and job seekers. The authorized YCDL Center of Volgograd State Ag-ricultural Academy has been actively involved in using Microsoft’s Digital Literacy Curriculum to provide free computer courses for local underserved populations. As of today, 369 people have successfully completed the training receiving their YCDL Certificates.
The new YCDL group consists of eleven trainees, primarily senior citizens and people out of work. Digital literacy will equip job seekers with new IT competencies giving them an important advantage on the labor market, and senior citizens will use their computer skills to expand their circle of interaction and to find new sources of additional income. One of the trainees is a person with disabilities hoping to use the computer and the Internet to keep in touch with his friends and relatives.
All the trainees are very enthusiastic about the training and appreciative of the Curriculum’s accessibility, logical structure and its practical hands-on approach.
