Tvoy Kurs Coordinators Are the Best in Europe and Eurasia!

The coordinator of the Tvoy Kurs Center of A. Pyrerka Nenets Boarding School in Naryan Mar Irina Kotkina and Ludmila Ulyeva, the coordinator of the Tvoy Kurs Center at M. Gorky Regional Academic Library in Volgograd, achieved convincing victories in prestigious international contests, run by Telecentre-Europe and Telecentre.org. Irina Kotkina received the title of the Best European Telecentre Manager at Telecentre-Europe Awards 2011, held by Telecentre-Europe in partnership with Microsoft this year for the first time, while Ludmila Ulyeva became the best in Eurasia in the Global Search for 100 Oustanding Telecentre Women Managers 2011.

Along with Irina and Ludmila, other Tvoy Kurs Center coordinators were also named among the 100 best Telecenter managers , including Olga Kochetkova (Volgograd State Agricultural Academy), Alla Kostishko (Ulyanovsk State University), Dina Bryuske (ORT-KesherNet ICT center, Tambov), and Mariyat Artyukhova (Computer Practicum Journal, Ufa).

The Telecentre-Europe Awards 2011 ceremony was held in late October in Brussels at the Telecentre-Europe Summit, highlighting the winners’ outstanding digital inclusion efforts and achievements. According to the official blog of Telecentre-Europe, “thanks to the efforts of coordinator Irina Kotkina, over the last few years the Telecenter in Naryan Mar has made a significant contribution to the overall digital literacy in Nenets Autonomous Area.” Since 2008, 1,600 local residents have completed Digital Literacy training at the Naryan Mar Tvoy Kurs Center, with more than 30,000 people making use of the Center’s ICT services. All the Telecentre-Europe Awards 2011 winners received trophies and the prize of a Xbox 360/Kinect Bundle donated by Microsoft.

“Of course I was excited to be named the Best European Telecentre Manager. It is always very gratifying to be duly appreciated. But this victory isn’t mine alone. It would be only fair to list all the people who helped me to get here. I want to thank my co-workers and partners, our young volunteers and adult helpers, the whole Tvoy Kurs family, including all the Project administrators and Tvoy Kurs Center coordinators, – and of course my family, who have faithfully supported me on the home front”. (from I. Kotkina’s award acceptance speech at Telecentre-Europe Awards 2011)

Ludmila Ulyeva, the coordinator of the Tvoy Kurs Center at M. Gorky Regional Academic Library in Volgograd, was acknowledged the winner of the Global Search for the 100 Outstanding Telecentre Women Managers 2011 in Eurasia. The contest was facilitated by Telecentre.org Foundation, and the 100 winners were determined by public voting on the Telecentre.org website. As the result, six Tvoy Kurs Center coordinators were nominated for the award, with Ludmila Ulyeva finally coming in first in her region. The winners of the Most Outstanding Telecentre Woman Manager title will be presented with a plaque of recognition, and they will also receive a brand-new netbook for use in their work at regional telecentre network recognition ceremonies.

“Three cheers for our great Tvoy Kurs family of coordinators and partners! Every one of us deserved to win. I am thankful to all those who have voted for me, and I will certainly try justify their confidence in me by wearing the title of the Most Outstanding Telecentre Woman Manager with pride and passing it on to another winner next year – hopefully also someone from the Tvoy Kurs team!” (L. Ulyeva about her winning the Global Search for the 100 Outstanding Telecentre Women Managers 2011)

Congratulations to our winners and the entire Tvoy Kurs team! We are very proud of you all!
