| 100th YCDL Center Joins the Project! |
In early June of 2010 Your Course: Digital Literacy Project welcomed its 100th member – the YCDL Center of Tver State University. Even though the official launch is yet to take place on 6 July 2010, as part
of the VII Social and Economic Forum “Information Society” in Tver, the YCDL Center team has already begun providing digital literacy courses to local residents.
Tver State University has many trainers well qualified to teach YCDL Curriculum developed by Microsoft experts –and most of these trainers work in the department for applied mathematics and cybernetics which boasts fifteen full professors and forty associate professors among its faculty members. The university also has all the necessary facilities and equipment for such training including thirty-six computer labs with Internet access.
The new YCDL Center will train unemployed and underemployed job seekers, people at risk of losing their jobs, senior citizens, low income and low wage workers and people with disabilities. It is projected that in 2010 the YCDL Center will train about 500 people, while working in close partnership with the local employment agencies and social security departments.
