| Get Online for Job Vacancies! |
The Internet with its search engines, special job sites and portals, and websites of employers and employment agencies, has become a primary resource for job seekers. In fact, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find work without using online resources. With this in mind, on 25 August 2010 the Digital Literacy Center of Novosibirsk regional academic library held a special seminar for job seekers. The seminar was attended by ten Digital Literacy trainees, some of whom had already passed the Certificate Test and received their Digital Literacy Certificates.
Trainer Tatiana Borovskaya talked about advantages of searching for work online and demonstrated how to use Internet search engines to look for vacancies and job sites. She introduced the seminar participants to popular local job sites and showed them how to navigate the sites with optimal efficiency and do basic things like sort vacancies by different criteria or post a résumé. She also discussed ways of avoiding fraudulent employers and looking for information on résumé building and job interview skills.
The seminar proved highly informative for the trainees, and the new skills will certainly stand them well in their employment search.
