On 16 – 20 August 2010, under the RF President’s Program of Continuous IT Education, two educational centers at Saratov State University, the Center for Continuous IT Education and the Digital Literacy Center, held a retraining course for computer science teachers of Saratov and Saratov region, providing three training modules in computer science theory, basic programming skills and advanced digital literacy.
As part of the digital literacy module, the educators were introduced to the Internet portal of Your Course: Digital Literacy Program and shown how the portal can be used for further self-study as well as for training gifted children in the area of ICTs. As part of the training, the teachers took the Digital Literacy course in Computer Basics, commenting on its helpful structure and methodology suitable for beginner users. They all successfully passed the final test and received Digital Literacy Certificates.
It should be noted, that many of the Continuous IT Education Program’s participants were introduced to Your Course: Digital Literacy Program back in May – June 2010, taking some of the courses and receiving Digital Literacy Certificates when the YCDL at Saratov State University was first launched.
