| On-the-Job ICT Training |
Since professional staff retraining and certification is one of the key prerequisites for its annual quality assurance audit, the Togliatti’s Science and Technology Center offered one of its departments on-the-job computer training using the Digital Literacy Computer Basics course. Since the ISO 9000 quality management system, used by the local companies and organization, lays special emphasis on personnel qualifications and retraining, the administration of the Science and Technology Center decided that free distance training in basic computer skills would definitely be useful for the department and all of its staff.
The training was facilitated by one of the department’s own workers, trainer Oleg Mikheyev, himself trained in the Digital Literacy Center of Togliatti State University. Oleg is a professional educator teaching at one of local universities. He held an introductory session explaining the structure of the course and then provided assistance when necessary. The group successfully coped with all the five modules, passing all the intermediary tests as well as the Digital Literacy Certificate Test with flying colors. Despite the different initial levels of computer proficiency, all the alumni found the training helpful, closing some gaps in their ICT competence, ensuring better work efficiency, using computer skills to find additional sources of income, or getting a better position within the department.
