| Internet Provider’s Perspective on Online Security for Tomsk Trainees |
On 9 July 2010, the digital literacy center of A.S. Pushkin regional library in Tomsk held a seminar “Online Security: An Internet Provider’s Perspective,” attended by Computer Basics trainees, librarians and Internet Center users. The seminar was held at the initiative of Vera Timofeyeva, press secretary of Vympel.Com Company in Tomsk.
Ms. Timofeyeva’s multimedia presentation not only raised a number of online security issues but also outlined possible ways of addressing the challenge through use of technologies and awareness raising campaigns. She also provided useful tips for Internet users interested in avoiding potential risks and making their online experience secure and beneficial.
According to the participants’ feedback, the seminar proved to be very useful and relevant – especially those participants who are taking the Digital Literacy courses in Computer Basics and The Internet and the World Wide Web.
