In order to provide better training and retraining opportunities for senior citizens, the Educational Center at the Retraining Institute of M. Akmulla Bashkortostan State Pedagogical University, with the support of the Department for Labor and Social Security of Ufa’s Kirov district, has launched the Tvoy Kurs initiative, recruiting training groups with the help of local social security departments and awarding alumni with Tvoy Kurs Certificates as well as official certificates issued by the Retraining Institute of M. Akmulla Pedagogical University. By 20 December 2011, the Tvoy Kurs Center of M. Akmulla Bashkortostan State Pedagogical University will have provided digital literacy training for 160 senior citizens.
Thanks to European Get Online Week, eighty-two-year-old folk singer Kseniya Petrunina from the Cossack village of Tepikinskaya has been able to find traditional wedding songs, lullabies and other Cossack folklore songs, enriching her own large repertoire. She will now perform new lullabies for young mothers, beautiful Cossack marching songs for draftees, and, hopefully, wedding songs for her yet unmarried grandchildren. Kseniya Petrunina is a firm believer in keeping and strengthening old Cossack traditions.
